Harumi Ota is a ceramic artist based in Victoria, BC. His work — which ranges from the functional to the sculptural — is characterized by a blend of traditional Japanese designs and his own, unique, nature-inspired style. Harumi studied art at the Kutani Ceramic Technical Training Centre in Nomi, Japan, before moving to Canada in 1997. He has exhibited work in Japan, New Zealand, the United States, and Canada. Currently, he sells ceramics year-round out of his home studio and during the summers at the Moss Street Market.
