Usually for us, summer is jammed and we move through it in a flash. We sneak in time for early morning dips, late evening beach sunsets and bags of plums, peaches and berries from the islands farm stands. This year, we’re doing it a bit differently. Lorraine is in France at the Domaine de Boisbuchet taking a course exploring the concept of Embodied Nature and here on the island we’re launching the first in our workshop series in touch. We’re taking a bit of time to slowwww down.

The through-line at the moment between all we do seems to be: hands. Working with them, making with them, connecting with them and the feel of anything made by hand.

Read on for whats top of mind for us this august 2026.

1. in touch. Our new workshop series that digs into creativity, community and working with our hands. For the first one we’ll be exploring creative inquiry through cordage making, weaving, drawing practices, movement and poetry that will get us out of our heads and into our bodies. There are a few spots left if you would like to join!
   
2. At home, Kaeli has been working on adding in a closet into her 1930’s farmhouse. Having 1 day a week to work on it means its a slow process with lots of time to work out any kinks. The final details are happening now and pictured are the pulls for 4 doors. Plates from Janaki Larsen with cracks and imperfections that happen at each stage from when they are thrown to what happens to them in the kiln.
   
3. We love a silly thing! These are classic duralex glasses that are being re-fired (read: melted) in the Czech Republic and appropriately named the Tipsy Glasses. They’re each deeply unique and look amazing mixed in with your classic duralex collection.
   
4. Our Pallarès Solsana knives are back in stock and we’ve added a couple more gems to the mix. This Sobrassada knife is perfect for serving. We love its rounded shape with just enough sharpness to get through cheeses and meats.
   
5. The most stunning doorway from Lorraines time in France. The workshop she is taking focuses on floristry but, as with all good workshops, she’ll take part in hands-on exercises while being encouraged to move beyond habitual ways of thinking. It’s the perfect time for new perspectives.
   
6. Here are a few of our favourite greens in the paint world at the moment: Cipresso, Dibber, Sap Green, Oxide Green, Moreton Bay Fig.
   
7. A very cool development in the outdoor paint world from Orca Living: Earth Coat. An easy way to add softness and a plaster-like finish to your outdoor space. We would love to see it around an outdoor shower.
   
8. The latest colour from Tina Frey is this beautiful brown amber. Full of florals or empty on a shelf, these pieces have a personality all their own. A person in the shop the other day mentioned how they almost feel like light sculptures the way they light up when the sun shines through them.
